PART 6 — NOTE: The family conflict reaches its peak. This part shows the mother-in-law confronting the loss of control.
His mother was not willing to accept the changes.
She came to my father’s house one afternoon.
“You are destroying my family.”
I looked at her calmly.
“No. I am protecting mine.”
She laughed bitterly.
“You think you’re better than us?”
“No.”
I looked at my son.
“I just know what he deserves.”
She became quiet.
Because she knew.
The argument was never about whether my son needed a house.
It was about whether she could control it.
She had spent years believing being older meant having authority over everyone.
But age did not make someone right.
And being family did not give someone permission to hurt others.
