PART 2 – The Message From Lena’s Phone Proved Someone Was Still Watching Noah, While the Hidden Recording Revealed Why His Mother Had Vanished Without Warning

NOTE: This part deepens the mystery around Lena’s disappearance, introduces the hidden phones and warning woman, and reveals that Travis was involved in the confrontation but was not acting alone.

Derek stared at the photograph until the police officer took the phone from his hand. The image showed Noah asleep in the storage room. The timestamp was impossible. They had already been at the hospital when the photograph was supposedly taken. Derek felt the same sensation he had experienced when he first opened the locked door: the certainty that someone else was moving pieces around them while they struggled to understand the board.

The officer asked whether anyone else had access to Lena's phone.

Derek shook his head.

“Not that I know of.”

“Family?”

“Her husband.”

The officer looked up.

“Where is he?”

Derek hesitated.

Noah's father had not been home when Derek arrived. He had called Derek once after hearing that Noah was in the hospital, but he had refused to explain where he was. That bothered Derek. He knew the man was frightened, but fear didn't explain why he had avoided returning home.

“I don't know,” Derek said.

The officer asked for his name.

Derek gave it.

Noah's father was contacted.

He finally agreed to meet them at the hospital.

When he arrived, he looked exhausted. His shirt was wrinkled, his face unshaven, and there was a fresh cut across one knuckle.

Derek noticed it immediately.

“What happened?”

“I broke a window.”

“Why?”

“I thought someone was following me.”

The officer stepped closer.

“Where?”

“Near the old warehouse.”

“What were you doing there?”

He looked at Derek.

“Looking for Lena.”

That answer changed the room.

“You found something?” Derek asked.

“No.”

“Then why were you there?”

“Because she left me a message.”

“What message?”

He pulled out his phone.

The screen displayed a photograph of an envelope.

Written across it was one sentence.

TRUST DEREK. NOT TRAVIS.

Derek stared.

“Where did she leave this?”

“At my office.”

“Why would Lena tell you to trust me?”

“I don't know.”

The officer asked him to explain everything.

He finally admitted that Lena had been afraid for several weeks.

She believed someone was watching the family.

At first, he thought she was imagining the attention.

Then strange things began happening.

A car appeared near the house.

Someone opened the mailbox.

A package arrived without a sender.

A locked drawer was found open.

And then Lena discovered a hidden phone.

She didn't know whose it was.

It contained photographs of the house.

Photographs of Noah.

Photographs of Derek.

And several photographs of Travis.

Derek's stomach tightened.

“Where is the phone?”

Noah's father looked at him.

“I don't have it.”

“Then who does?”

“I think Lena took it.”

The police searched the house again.

This time, they examined places nobody had considered.

Behind the washing machine.

Inside the heating vent.

Under the kitchen cabinet.

They found nothing.

Then Noah spoke.

“Mommy hid it.”

Everyone turned.

“Where?”

Noah pointed toward the hallway.

“In the box with the blue blanket.”

Derek remembered the box.

It was in the attic.

He climbed the stairs with the officer.

The blue blanket was folded beneath several old clothes.

Underneath it was a small black phone.

The battery was nearly empty.

Derek turned it on.

There were dozens of photographs.

The newest one had been taken the night Lena disappeared.

It showed Travis standing inside the house.

He was holding the baseball bat.

Derek stared at the screen.

Travis had lied.

The officer immediately photographed the evidence.

But another file caught Derek's attention.

It was an audio recording.

He played it.

Lena's voice filled the attic.

“If you're hearing this, something happened before I could get away.”

Derek's breath caught.

“I need whoever finds this to understand that Travis didn't start this.”

The recording continued.

“He was angry, and he hurt Noah. But someone else has been controlling him.”

Derek looked at the officer.

The voice continued.

“His name is Elliot Gray.”

Derek felt the room change.

The name matched Noah's frightened description.

Mr. Gray.

Lena explained that she had discovered Elliot through financial records connected to Travis.

Travis had been receiving money.

Not large amounts.

Small transfers.

Regular enough to look like assistance.

The payments had started after Travis began working with a private security company.

Lena believed Elliot had recruited him.

But she didn't know why.

Then the recording changed.

Lena sounded frightened.

“He wants something from our family.”

“What?”

The question came from another voice.

A woman.

Derek didn't recognize her.

Lena answered:

“The archive.”

The recording ended.

Derek replayed it.

The archive.

What archive?

He had no idea.

Then he remembered something his father had once told him.

Their family had kept old financial and property records in a private archive.

Derek had never cared about it.

But Lena apparently had.

The police searched the house for references to it.

They found an old key inside Lena's desk.

The key had a number stamped into it.

A storage facility.

Derek drove there with the police.

The unit contained boxes.

Old photographs.

Property deeds.

Bank records.

Letters.

And a locked metal case.

The case had no keyhole.

Only a digital keypad.

Derek tried several combinations.

Nothing.

Then the officer found a note taped beneath the lid.

The code wasn't a number.

It was a date.

The date of Noah's birth.

The lock opened.

Inside was a stack of documents.

At the top was a letter from Lena.

Derek unfolded it.

She wrote that she had discovered evidence that Elliot Gray had been manipulating family assets for years.

He had been using other people to access private records.

Travis was one of them.

The archive contained evidence that could expose him.

But there was more.

Lena had discovered that Elliot had been tracking Noah.

Not because of the child himself.

Because Noah had accidentally seen something.

Something Elliot had done months earlier.

Derek felt sick.

“What did he see?”

The answer wasn't in the letter.

The final page had been torn away.

The police examined the remaining documents.

One photograph showed Elliot standing outside the family property.

Another showed Travis receiving an envelope.

A third showed Lena meeting a woman Derek didn't know.

On the back of the photograph was written:

SHE KNOWS WHERE HE HIDES THE SECOND PHONE.

Derek looked at the woman.

“Who is she?”

The officer enlarged the image.

They eventually identified her as a former employee of Elliot's company.

Her name was Mara.

She was located that evening.

When questioned, she refused to speak.

Then Derek received another message.

This time from an unknown number.

“Stop searching.”

Derek typed:

“Where is my sister?”

The reply came immediately.

“She chose to disappear.”

Derek's jaw tightened.

“Why?”

“She knew what would happen if she stayed.”

Derek looked at Noah.

The boy was watching him.

Another message appeared.

“Ask the child what he saw.”

Derek turned toward Noah.

“Noah.”

The boy looked frightened.

“What did you see?”

Noah pressed his injured arm against his chest.

“Mr. Gray.”

“What did he do?”

Noah's eyes filled with tears.

“He put something in the wall.”

“What?”

“I don't know.”

“Where?”

Noah looked toward Derek.

“The house.”

“What part?”

“The room Mommy said never to open.”

Derek understood.

There was one room they hadn't searched.

Lena's bedroom closet.

Behind the false wall.
